DiscGenics and The Watson Neuroscience Foundation Collaborate on New Spine Treatments

March 21, 2013

DiscGenicsThe Watson Neuroscience Foundation is proud to announce a collaboration with DiscGenics Inc and Pinnacle Brain & Spine Center, having been chosen to harvest research material for use in developing new spine treatments.

DiscGenics is a spinal therapeutics company using adult human disc-derived stem cells and tissue engineering techniques to treat patients debilitated by degenerative disc disease (DDD).

Degenerative disc disease (DDD) affects millions of people worldwide. This debilitating condition results in the progressive breakdown of the intervertebral disc, which supports the spine and allows for pain-free motion. DiscGenics is developing new approaches to regenerating the intervertebral disc using stem cells and tissue engineering.

Currently The Watson Neuroscience Foundation and Pinnacle Brain & Spine Center are producing an IRB paper in order to secure material for DiscGenics, Inc to use in the development of exciting new spine treatments based on proprietary technology.

When asked about the collaboration Dr. Juan Ronderos responded:

“We’re always excited by the possibility of pushing boundaries and being involved in the creation of new treatments that may provide better care and solutions for our patients. this is wonderful area of research and we’re proud to work with DiscGenics on the leading edge.”
